A bitter fact is that the fund allotment for lung cancer is very less in comparison to breast cancer. Though many women die by the cruel disease lung cancer every year, the fund for lung cancer research is not enough to discover new medicines to prevent lung cancer at the early stage. Many fund giving organizations also consider breast cancer as the most worrisome thing than the lung cancer. When the fund allotment increases considerably for lung cancer, then we can foresee some improvements in the diagnosis and treatment aspects. Many innocent women suffer from this disease who has not touched any smokes in their life time. This situation should change in the future with improved and advanced medical inventions to treat lung cancer. The awareness about the diagnostic procedures and the new technologies and methods in treatments should reach everybody in the country. The importance of early detection of the disease should be explained to everyone and this may cause some positive changes in the current survival rate of lung cancer.

Can we relate lung cancer with estrogen? Yes. There are some effects of this disease associate with the hormone estrogen which is unique for women. As we all know, there are some distinct aspects of lung cancer in women and men. Since the disease causing factor in this case related to cells, we come to know that lung cancer cells also possess estrogen receptors in them. That is, there are the areas which can stick to the estrogen. A recent study suggests that lung cancer is also seen in the body of women has passed the menopause period. Whereas, some other studies relate the lung cancer with the puberty period in women. An animal studies were also conducted in order to find the relation between estrogen and lung cancer. Like the symptoms vary from women to men, the treatment procedures and the results obtained from the treatments of lung cancer also differ from women o men. With respect to the past events in the history of lung cancer, women respond to some chemotherapy treatment options better than men. Women show a good response for a new targeted therapy called Tarceva, but the same therapy does not work well in the case of men. The traditional treatment for this disease is the removal of the tumor using surgical operations. Women undergone surgical treatments are also tend to fair more effective. In a recent study, the survival rate after the surgery process is far good in the case of women than the men. Though, NCI urges that all the patients under the third stage of lung cancer are put for clinical trials, women are less probably to be involved in clinical trials. The treatment facilities can be better and some other new procedure should be introduced in order to eradicate the disease completely from the body.

According to the research done by American Cancer Society, the results obtained from the research proved that the survival rate is higher in the case of women when compared to the counterpart. Though the survival rate (20%) is less when concerned about the overall count of the patients, but the rate is still high when compared to men (13%). Some steps should be taken from both the patient’s side as well as the pathologist’s side to increase the overall survival rate. Coordination from the patient’s side is more important and also the doctors should give the appropriate treatments at right time to improve the survival rate. Lung cancer in women is major problem in many countries especially in Unites States of America. Because, women are well exposed to the habit of smoking in this country than any other country in the world. The only way to increase the survival rate is to follow the procedures given by the doctors properly and also eliminating the root cause of smoking completely among the people.
